Gansu Baiqingyuan Grass Industry and Animal Husbandry Co., Ltd.

Gansu Baiqingyuan Grass Industry and Animal Husbandry Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Gansu Baiqingyuan") was invested by Beijing Baiqingyuan Livestock Technology Development Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Beijing Baiqingyuan") and approved by the industrial and commercial department in April 2019. The company has a registered capital of 5 million yuan and obtained the Grass Seed Business License and Grass Seed Production License issued by the Gansu Provincial Forestry and Grassland Bureau in August 2019. Gansu Baiqingyuan focuses on the R&D, production, processing, and sales of forage seeds, as well as forage planting technical consultation and services. It has established a high-quality core team consisting of doctors, masters, and agronomists with over 10 years of experience in breeding (including 1 doctor, 3 masters, and 4 bachelor's degree holders).

The controlling shareholder, Beijing Baiqingyuan, imports over 1,000 tons of high-quality alfalfa and forage oat seeds annually, making it one of China's major importers of high-quality forage seeds. The company has bred and approved three silage corn varieties (Wenyu 3, Qingfeng 4, and Baiqing 131) and obtained production rights for two registered alfalfa varieties (Zhongmu 3 and Zhongcao 5) through franchise authorization. Additionally, it has been granted exclusive distribution rights in China for nearly 10 high-quality forage varieties by renowned international grass companies.

In 2013, the company began seed production domestically, naming its varieties "Fu Yan 1" and "Fu Yan 2" (with "Fu Yan" now trademark-pending). It also initiated oat and alfalfa seed production trials in regions including Ningxia, Zhangjiakou (Hebei), Xining (Qinghai), Zhangye (Gansu), Yumen (Gansu), and Ordos (Inner Mongolia). Through years of exploration, the team improved its capabilities, collaborated with domestic experts and agricultural machinery manufacturers to resolve issues such as mismatched sowing machinery, low seed yield, and inadequate processing equipment, and established technical standards for oat and alfalfa seed production and quality assurance systems. Comparative studies on suitable regions for large-scale alfalfa and oat seed production were also conducted.

In 2016, Beijing Baiqingyuan decided to establish alfalfa and oat seed production bases in Zhangye, Gansu. By 2023, Gansu Baiqingyuan's oat seed production area reached over 5,000 mu, alfalfa seed production area exceeded 2,000 mu, with an estimated seed output of 2,000 tons (including nearly 100 tons of alfalfa seeds). The company's self-bred high-quality forage seeds have gained recognition and praise from customers. Comparative tests with domestic and imported oat seeds revealed that Baiqingyuan's oat seeds produced in Zhangye, Gansu, exhibit higher thousand-kernel weight, germination potential, and germination rate than imported seeds, a conclusion supported by the Ministry of Agriculture's Forage and Turfgrass Seed Quality Supervision, Inspection and Testing Center. This demonstrates that after years of forage seed breeding practice, Baiqingyuan has fully achieved the capability to produce seeds of quality comparable to or better than imported seeds in Zhangye.

To enhance its production and processing capacity, Gansu Baiqingyuan conducts R&D on various forage varieties by introducing and self-breeding varieties, while actively collaborating with advanced international forage research institutions. Since 2019, the company has established a cooperation framework with France's renowned forage breeding company JD (Jouffray – Drillaud S.A.) to jointly conduct seed production, breeding, and R&D in China. Starting in 2020, the collaboration began with the joint establishment of forage seed production bases, aiming to gradually deepen cooperation and ultimately establish an integrated breeding and seed production mechanism. If implemented, Gansu Baiqingyuan is poised to become China's first domestic enterprise to collaborate with foreign companies on forage seed production and breeding.

Currently, through forms such as "company + cooperatives" and land transfer, Gansu Baiqingyuan has formed oat seed production bases of over 5,000 mu and alfalfa seed production bases of over 2,000 mu, producing approximately 2,000 tons of national standard first-class oat seeds and 100 tons of alfalfa seeds annually. This is only the beginning. Adhering to the business philosophy of "professionalism成就事业," the company aims to substitute imported high-quality forage seeds with domestic ones, thereby achieving the localization of high-quality forage seeds. It will continue to expand alfalfa and oat seed production bases in Zhangye, Gansu, through "company + cooperatives" and "company + farmers" models, while increasing local farmers' incomes. Long-term cooperative order production will be maintained with large planting enterprises such as Shandan Ranch, Guangming Group, and Yili Group. With original seeds and technical guidance provided by France's JD Company, a 1,000-mu "Grand Galaxy" alfalfa production area has been established in Zhangye, Gansu, and a preliminary research system has been set up to facilitate collaborative breeding and development. Through project introduction and self-raised funds, a forage seed processing plant and pelletizing production line will be established in Zhangye, Gansu, to further enhance seed quality.
